Election Day

Posted by Unknown

Today is America's Elect Day! What an awesome thing to have such a right. I always haven't taken advantage of it but know that is a privileged denied to many. As the world becomes more complicated and the issues more polar the vote is more serious and precious indeed. However I have learned one thing in my life and that is that every person is entitled to their opinion and I 100% respect that. I joy in our differences and find that these differences are what unite the human race. We are able to think for ourselves and I truly believe in the freedom of speech. Not every human has it and we need to respect and honor that freedom. Have a great day and if you feel so obliged than go and let your opinion be know. At least through a secret ballot!.

Dancing with the universe

Posted by Unknown

Have you guys seen this? It's my new favorite thing. My sister and law and I even danced to it in her living room to bring the universe closer to us. Try it...You might feel the power as well.

Geography 101

Posted by Unknown

The older I become the truly less intelligent I am. I recently saw this video clip and wondered if my parents would have started sooner when I was young, if it would have slowed the process a little bit. Who knows but this did sure give me hope for future generations. I didn't even know there was a country named Djibouti (pronounced Jabootie for the people as ignorant as me.)

Laughter Yoga

Posted by Unknown

My mom had the antidote "Laughter is the Best Medicine" on her desktop for years. Sometimes you hear things and we often take them for granted. However through the years as I've pondered how laughter has effected my life I realize how true and wise that saying is. When was the last time you laughed? Not a chuckle, a giggle but rather that down right belly laugh. Who do you laugh with? What things make you laugh? Why don't we laugh all the time?

I just ran across another quote today from Marie Osmond. She says. "If you're going to be able to look back on something and laugh about it, you might as well laugh about it now." How true that is!!! If we can't laugh at ourselves, our situations, or anything else our lives are brought even lower then they truly are. If we learned to laugh everyday in would definitely lighten our lives and heal our hearts. Sometimes I think we just forget to laugh, to see the humor in our everyday lives. We need to remember as Laughter truly is the best medicine.

The following clip is an info on a new fad called Laughter Yoga. It's an informative piece but I watched a full Yoga class on the Internet and it really did make me laugh. Laughter truly is contagious. It lightens are moods and our hearts. Did I already say that? Maybe I'm just stressing the point.

Happy Earth Day!

Posted by Unknown

My college degree was in Conservation Biology & Botany. I studied ecology and ecosystems for four years and was determined to not go to the "dark side". After graduating and many attempts to get a job wearing overly tight green pants for the park system or forest service, I landed seasonal jobs until I finally did sell out and landed a good job in corporate America. Man..was the money good. Especially since it didn't end when the seasons changed. Did I really end up changing my dreams and directions for the mighty dollar? Some say that I might have sold out...But I'd like to say it was the rational thing to do to pay my bills.

It's truly not about what you do but rather how you live. I love that the last two months are all about "green" and the things you should buy (spending money) to make the world a better place. We are being guilted into being better people and somebody is making tons of money off us. Don't get me wrong, they are not bad ideas but let's be active vs. passive. It's not about affording a 0% carbon footprint (which hollywood I might add doesn't even come close to) After all, I wasn't a bad person worked 45+ hours a week at a corporate job. I still recycled (most important thing we could ever do) and educated myself about the true state of the world. I'm not seeking to destroy the earth because I haven't installed my cork floors as of yet.
I'm on my soap box I know but today is still a good day. Today is a great day to be thankful for the earth and to know what a mighty system is in place for us. We are stewards of the most beautiful and diverse place in our galaxy.

Sundance Film Festival

Posted by Unknown

In honor or the week......

Some of what comes out of the sundance film festival is trash....Pure unadulterated garbage. Some is bologna.....Cheap, processed, and totally LAME. However, a select few can be so inspiring that I am thankful for independant film.

I recently rented the movie GOD GREW TIRED OF US. It is the winner of Sundance Jury Prize for 2006 along with the audience choice award. It is a documentary about the LOST BOYS of Sudan. I had never heard of the movie and it was shot in the dark of what it would be like but, I have to admit I was in no way disappointed.

It ended up being a great movie. I laughed, I cried, but most of all it touched my soul. I realized how blessed we are to live in this country. I realized how the struggles I have are so "western" in their nature and that God has given me every opportunity to achieve every dream. I realized how hard people work to actually help and show their gratitude for what they have. I learned that I need to be more proactive to help others, make change, if I'm ever going to make a difference in this world.

This is diffantely a five star rating in my book. Everybody and their mother should see it.

Have you seen any movies that are as inspiring as this? If so, let me know.
