Quote of the Day

Posted by Unknown

I read this quote recently and loved it.

There are only two lasting bequests that we can give our children. One is roots, the other wings

-Hodding Carter

It made me think about these hard times we live in and I came across this poem. I'm not sure why I'm feeling all literary this morning but truly enjoyed it. This is why there is poetry. Sometimes it decribes what we may feel that we cannot say. I hope you enjoy and have a great week.

Your world is as big as you make it
I know, for I used to abide
In the narrowest nest in a corner
My wings pressing close to my side

But I sighted the distant horizon
Where the sky-line encircled the sea
And I throbbed with a burning desire
To travel this immensity.

I battered the cordons around me
And cradled my wings on the breeze
Then soared to the uttermost reaches
with rapture, with power, with ease!
-Georgia Douglas Johnson
